Tinago Falls

I think you have not been to Iligan City if you have not visited Tinago Falls. Legend  has it that there was an ugly maiden who has been hiding in the cave until she met an enchantress who granted her wish and turned her into a beautiful waterfalls.

Folks believed that because of its secluded area, the place is inhabited by water fairies and other beings that are not visible to our eyes. So as a sign of respect you have to drop a coin or two at the water before taking a plunge. I have visited Tinago four times already and I never failed to drop a coin. I believe that there are other dimensions somehow somewhere. Better safe than sorry.

Tinago has a fall of 240 feet and its depth has not been measured. But they said that a tree fell from the cliff and it never resurfaced. Whether it’s true or not, I cannot say, but by the look of it you really need to wear a life jacket when you go for a swim.

The trip going down is an adventure on its own. But to climb back is a cardio exercise like no other. Word of advice, wear comfortable shoes, and take it slow.  Experience Tinago now!
